Marriage Counselor Near the Arizona Museum of Natural History in Mesa

Change that outlasts the first good week. A shift in what you both believe, not just a list of things to try. A marriage that gets steadier over time. We coach you together at our Chandler office, about 18 minutes from the Arizona Museum of Natural History, or online.

Short answer: our office is at 3075 W Ray Rd #200 in Chandler, at Loop 101 and Ray Road. From the Arizona Museum of Natural History in downtown Mesa it's about 18 minutes. We coach couples together, and it starts with a free 30-minute consultation.

The Arizona Museum of Natural History, at 53 N Macdonald in downtown Mesa, is a place built around time. Big changes in nature take a long while, and the ones that stick are deep.

The same is true in a marriage. Most couples have tried something that worked for a week: a rule, a promise, a new schedule. Then life got busy and it faded. We call that behavior modification. It works in the moment and does not last. What lasts is transformation, which starts in what you believe and changes who you are, not just what you do.

Behavior Modification Fades. A Changed Mind Lasts.

Four steps from quick fix to lasting change.

Behavior Fades. A Changed Mind Lasts. Time Still working Quick fix, no belief behind it Mind changed first

Download the one-page worksheet (PDF) and fill it in together.

1

Spot the quick fix

What have you tried that worked for a week and then slipped? That is behavior without belief behind it.

2

Find the belief underneath

Ask what you actually believe. "My spouse should go first" and "I take personal responsibility" lead to very different weeks.

3

Change the belief on purpose

Choose the mindset you want to live from, say it out loud, and let it correct your thinking before your actions.

4

Let the action follow, then practice

When the mind changes, the behavior stops being a fight. Practice it in small, regular steps.

It is okay if it feels awkward. A new belief takes repetition. Expect baby steps, and keep going.

What This Looks Like With Us

In person or online

Meet us at the Chandler office, or join by video from home. The coaching is the same either way, so pick what fits your week.

One team, two chairs

Both partners come to every session. We teach tools to the two of you together, so you leave with the same language and the same plan.

Who you'll work with

Sarah-Gayle or I will coach you, matched on your consultation. Sarah-Gayle holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific, and works here as a coach, not a clinician. I'm an ordained minister. We've been married more than twenty years and have coached thousands of couples.

Coaching, not therapy. We don't diagnose, we don't treat mental health conditions, and we don't bill insurance. Both partners come to every session, and we don't offer individual work. If what you need is licensed clinical care, we'll tell you and help you find it.

Questions Couples Ask

How far is your office from the Arizona Museum of Natural History?

About 18 minutes by car, 10.5 miles, based on Google Maps. The fastest route runs along AZ-101 Loop S. Our office is at 3075 W Ray Rd #200 in Chandler. We also meet online.

How long does lasting change actually take?

It depends on the two of you and how consistently you practice, so we won't promise a timeline. We coach in steps, with regular practice between sessions, so the new belief has time to become part of how you think.

What if we've tried to change before and it didn't stick?

That is a common starting point. Behavior alone usually fades. We work on the belief underneath and give both of you tools and accountability, so the change has something to stand on.
