Hope Relentless

Marriage Counselor Near Crossroads Park in Gilbert

Hard conversations that start calm and have a way back when they don't. A plan for when to talk, what you're after, and how to pause. Decisions you both agreed to, not one of you quietly giving in. We coach you together, online or at our Chandler office.

30 minutes, free, no obligation. Both of you on the call.

Short answer: Crossroads Park is at 2155 E Knox Rd in Gilbert. We're a service-area practice, so we don't have a Gilbert storefront. We coach couples together online or at our Chandler office, and it starts with a free 30-minute consultation.

A walk around a lake is one of the best places for two people to talk. It's a rough place to start a hard conversation with no plan, because you can't un-say something halfway around the loop.

Most of us bring the topic and skip the setup. The setup is where a conversation is won or lost. We call it the Game Plan, and it works before the first word comes out.

The Game Plan: Set It Up Before You Start

1

Name the goal

Are you looking to be heard, or to solve something? Ask each other: "Are you looking for a solution, or just to share?" Mismatched goals are one of the top reasons a talk goes sideways.

2

Check the timing

Ask if now works. No margin, no hard conversation. Either of you can call a timeout to pause, take a breath, and come back with a plan to return.

3

One topic, one why

Pick the single thing you're here to talk about and stay in the present. The old stuff gets its own conversation on its own day.

4

Choose the place and the people

Decide where you talk best and how you want to treat each other when it gets tense. Know who supports your marriage when you need more than the two of you.

It will feel a little scripted at first. That's fine. The Game Plan is a guide, not a law, and it only works when you both bring a humble heart to it.

What This Looks Like With Us

Built around your real week

We coach couples online or at our Chandler office, and we help you set up habits that fit the schedule you actually have.

Both of you, every time

We don't offer individual sessions. Each of you owns your own side, and both of you grow at the same time. Nobody is the project.

Coached by someone who's been there

You'll work with Sarah-Gayle or me, matched on your consultation. Sarah-Gayle holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific, and works here as a coach, not a clinician. I'm an ordained minister. We've been married more than twenty years and have coached thousands of couples.

Coaching, not therapy. We don't diagnose, we don't treat mental health conditions, and we don't bill insurance. Both partners come to every session, and we don't offer individual work. If what you need is licensed clinical care, we'll tell you and help you find it.

Questions Couples Ask

Is a walk a good place for a hard conversation?

For some couples, moving side by side makes it easier to talk. For others it feels like being cornered. Either way, set the Game Plan first: the goal, the timing and the one topic. If it starts to go badly, stop walking, take your timeout and come back to it.

What if one of us wants to solve it and the other just wants to be heard?

That mismatch is common, and it's the first thing the Game Plan fixes. You ask the question out loud before you start. If one of you needs to be heard first, you listen first, and the solving comes after. We practice it with you until it feels natural.

Can either of us stop a conversation that's going badly?

Yes. Either partner can call a timeout, and the rule is that you name when you'll come back to it. A timeout isn't avoiding. It's protecting the conversation so it can finish well.
