Hope Relentless
Marriage Counselor Near New Heights Church in Chandler
A way to raise the hard thing without it becoming a fight. One honest sentence that invites your spouse in instead of putting them on defense. A marriage where peace means connection, not avoidance. We coach the two of you together, six minutes from New Heights Church, or online.
30 minutes, free, no obligation. Both of you on the call.
Couples who are active in a church are often great at doing life together. They serve, they host, they show up for other people. Then the two of them sit in the car afterward and don't say the one thing that's been sitting there for weeks.
That quiet isn't peace. Peace that's really avoidance breeds resentment. The thing you didn't say is still there, and it grows.
The fix is rarely a better argument. It's a better start. How a conversation begins largely decides where it goes.
The Proactive Start: One Sentence That Opens the Door
This is the first step of the Communication Loop. It's an I-statement with a positive target, and it has three parts.
When ______ happens
Name the situation, not the person. "When we go several days without really talking" gives your spouse context. "You never talk to me" gives them an accusation.
I feel ______
Use an actual emotion, and own it. Lonely, worried, overwhelmed. This is what keeps your spouse on your side of the table.
Moving forward, I'd appreciate ______
Ask for something clear and positive. "A short check-in before bed." A target your spouse can hit, and when they hit it, it adds value to both of you.
Check the weight first, if you want
Before you start, ask yourself how important this is on a one to ten. It keeps a ten from being delivered like a two, or a two like a ten.
Put together: "When we go several days without connecting, I feel lonely. Moving forward, I'd appreciate scheduling a short check-in before bed." It will sound stiff the first time. That's normal. It's a guide, not a law.

What This Looks Like With Us
Faith-aware, never forced
Scripture and prayer have a natural place here when you want them. We meet you where you are, and we never push faith on a couple.
Both of you, every time
We don't offer individual sessions. Each of you owns your own side, and both of you grow at the same time. Nobody is the project.
Coached by someone who's been there
You'll work with Sarah-Gayle or me, matched on your consultation. Sarah-Gayle holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific, and works here as a coach, not a clinician. I'm an ordained minister. We've been married more than twenty years and have coached thousands of couples.
Questions Couples Ask
How far is your office from New Heights Church?
About six minutes by car, roughly 1.9 miles, at typical traffic. New Heights is on Warner Road and our office is at 3075 W Ray Rd #200. We also meet online.
We're both active in church. Do we really need coaching?
Serving well together and talking well together are different skills. Many strong, faithful couples have never been taught how to raise a hard topic without hurting each other. That's what we teach, and it builds on the faith you already share.
What if my spouse feels attacked when I bring something up?
That usually means the start of the conversation sounded like blame. The Proactive Start takes you from "you always" to "I feel," with a clear positive request. We practice it with both of you in the room so it lands as an invitation.
Say the Thing, Kindly
