Most couples have had a good stretch. A weekend away, a conversation that finally landed, a few weeks where everything felt easier. Then life speeds back up and the old patterns walk right back in. It's easy to start wondering if the good season was ever real.
It was. What was missing wasn't effort or love. It was accountability. We all have good intentions, but without some structure and consistency, we drift back to whatever is most ingrained in us. With accountability, the growth keeps going, and you get to grow alongside people who are cheering you on and help carry you through the stretches when you don't have the strength on your own.
That's why we give couples a set of Personal Accountability Questions. They aren't a test. We're not after perfection. We're after becoming the best version of ourselves, one honest answer at a time.
Personal Accountability: Questions That Keep Growth Going
Here are several from the set we use. Talk them through with a trusted friend or mentor. If you don't have one yet, set aside quiet time to reflect on them yourself.
Is your love for your spouse growing or shrinking?
Not whether it exists. Which direction it's moving this month. Direction is something you can change.
Have you created an environment of appreciation for your spouse and family in your home?
Appreciation is a climate, not a single compliment. Notice what gets said out loud in your house, and what only gets thought.
Are you existing at a pace of life that is sustainable?
A marriage rarely gets the leftovers of an overloaded week. If the pace can't last, something important is quietly paying for it.
Have you compromised your integrity in any way?
Small shortcuts count. Integrity is the quiet foundation trust stands on.
Are you proud of the person you are?
Not the person your spouse should be. You. This is where personal responsibility starts.
Do you have a thankful heart?
Gratitude changes what you notice. What you notice changes how you treat each other.
The full set goes further, into faith, finances, health, and boundaries, and we use all of it with couples who want to. One rule for every question: it's about you. The moment one becomes a checklist for your spouse, it stops working. And if accountability has gone badly for you before, we get it. Done well, it feels less like being watched and more like being cheered on.

What This Looks Like With Us
Accountability built into the work
Regular sessions give your growth structure. Between sessions, we help the two of you decide who and what will hold you steady, so progress doesn't depend on willpower alone.
Both of you, every time
We don't offer individual sessions. Each of you owns your own side, and both of you grow at the same time. Nobody is the project.
Coached by a couple who's been there
Sarah-Gayle holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific, and works here as a coach, not a clinician. I'm an ordained minister. We've been married more than twenty years and have coached thousands of couples.
Questions Couples Ask
How far is your office from Saint Katherine Greek Orthodox Church?
About three miles. Our office is at 3075 W Ray Rd #200 in Chandler, at the Loop 101 and Ray Road. From the church, take Dobson Road south to Warner Road, head west to Price Road, then go south on Price to Ray Road.
Why do the good seasons in a marriage fade?
Usually not because the growth was fake. Without structure, consistency, and people holding you to it, most of us slide back to what is most ingrained. Accountability is what turns a good season into lasting change.
Who should we be accountable to besides a coach?
Ideally a trusted friend or mentor for each of you, and a few people who are for your marriage as a whole. If you don't have that yet, start with honest personal reflection, and we'll help you think through who could fill that role.
