Marriage Counselor Near Tempe Public Library in Tempe

Hard conversations that end in connection instead of a verdict. A habit of checking in before you speak. Both of you feeling heard, even when you disagree. We coach you together at our Chandler office, about 13 minutes from Tempe Public Library, or online.

30 minutes, free, no obligation. Both of you on the call.

Short answer: our office is at 3075 W Ray Rd #200 in Chandler, at Loop 101 and Ray Road. From Tempe Public Library it's about 13 minutes. We coach couples together, and it starts with a free 30-minute consultation.

Tempe Public Library is at 3500 S Rural Rd in Tempe. A library runs on a simple agreement: keep it quiet enough that people can hear themselves think.

Marriages need the same thing. Not silence, but enough room to be heard. We teach a mindset that sits under every tool we use: communication is about connection. If you are not connecting, you are not communicating. I learned this the hard way. I used to argue like an attorney, trying to win the point, and it did not bring us closer.

Connection Before Content: Four Quick Checks

Run these in your head before you raise something hard.

Connection Before Content 1 2 3 4 Whose view am I missing? Connect or win? What helps them feel heard? Say it, then ask Connected, not just correct

Download the one-page worksheet (PDF) and fill it in together.

1

Whose view am I missing?

Your spouse's perspective is the gold in the conversation. Try to see the situation from where they sit before you speak.

2

Am I here to connect or to win?

If the goal is being right, the conversation has already gone sideways. Say the goal to yourself first.

3

What would they need to feel heard?

Slow down and adjust to them. A good point delivered in the wrong way does not land.

4

Say it, then ask

Share the one thing, then ask what they heard. Keep going until you both feel connected.

Winning and connecting are different goals. Only one of them builds a marriage.

What This Looks Like With Us

Built around your real week

Sessions happen at our Chandler office or online. We help you build habits that fit the schedule you actually have.

Both of you, every time

We don't offer individual sessions. Each of you owns your own side, and both of you grow at the same time. Nobody is the project.

Coached by someone who's been there

You'll work with Sarah-Gayle or me, matched on your consultation. Sarah-Gayle holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific, and works here as a coach, not a clinician. I'm an ordained minister. We've been married more than twenty years and have coached thousands of couples.

Coaching, not therapy. We don't diagnose, we don't treat mental health conditions, and we don't bill insurance. Both partners come to every session, and we don't offer individual work. If what you need is licensed clinical care, we'll tell you and help you find it.

Questions Couples Ask

How far is your office from Tempe Public Library?

About 13 minutes by car, 7.2 miles, based on Google Maps. The fastest route runs along AZ-101 Loop S. Our office is at 3075 W Ray Rd #200 in Chandler. We also meet online.

How do I know if I'm trying to win instead of connect?

Notice what you are listening for. If you are collecting evidence while they talk, you are in win mode. If you are listening to understand, you are in connect mode. We help couples spot the switch in the moment.

What if my spouse isn't in a mood to connect?

Timing matters, and so does how you open. We teach a simple way to ask for a better moment without making your spouse the problem. The two of you work on it together, in session.

Connect Before You Correct

Thirty minutes, free, both of you on the call. We'll tell you honestly whether we're the right fit.
