Hope Relentless

Marriage Counselor Near Warner Greenfield Square in Gilbert

A dinner out where you both feel heard. The skill of listening to connect instead of correct, so a hard topic can be said and received. We coach you together, online or at our Chandler office, whether you're engaged or married.

30 minutes, free, no obligation. Both of you on the call.

Short answer: Warner Greenfield Square is at 832 to 888 S Greenfield Rd in Gilbert. We're a service-area practice, so we don't have a Gilbert storefront. We coach couples together online or at our Chandler office, and it starts with a free 30-minute consultation.

A good dinner out gives you the one thing the week rarely does: two uninterrupted people. It's a great setting for a conversation that matters. It's also where a talk can go sideways, because both of you want to be understood at the same time.

The way through is the listener's job. We call it the Validating Response, and the goal is simple. Your partner feels heard. You don't have to agree yet. That comes later.

The Validating Response: Listen to Connect, Not Correct

1

Listen to understand

Phones away, eyes up. Don't interrupt and don't hijack the conversation with your own story. Just take in what they're saying.

2

Reflect back

Say it back in your own words. What I hear you saying is this, is that right? That closes the gap between what was said and what you heard.

3

Confirm and validate

Acknowledge the feeling without arguing the facts. That sounds hard. Thank you for telling me. Validation isn't agreement. It's showing you saw them.

4

Pass the baton

One topic and one speaker at a time, like a 4x400 relay. If both of you talk at once, nobody listens, so nobody feels heard.

It will feel a little formal at first, especially with people at the next table. Stay with it. It's a guide, not a law, and communication is about connection.

What This Looks Like With Us

Built around your real week

We coach couples online or at our Chandler office, and we help you set up habits that fit the schedule you actually have.

Both of you, every time

We don't offer individual sessions. Each of you owns your own side, and both of you grow at the same time. Nobody is the project.

Coached by someone who's been there

You'll work with Sarah-Gayle or me, matched on your consultation. Sarah-Gayle holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific, and works here as a coach, not a clinician. I'm an ordained minister. We've been married more than twenty years and have coached thousands of couples.

Coaching, not therapy. We don't diagnose, we don't treat mental health conditions, and we don't bill insurance. Both partners come to every session, and we don't offer individual work. If what you need is licensed clinical care, we'll tell you and help you find it.

Questions Couples Ask

Does validating mean I'm agreeing with everything?

No. Validating means you acknowledge what your partner felt and shared. You can disagree later, once they feel heard. Most disagreements soften a lot once that happens.

What do we do if we both want to talk at the same time?

Pick one speaker and one topic, and hand the baton back and forth. The speaker goes first and the listener reflects back. Then you switch. One runner holds the baton at a time.

We're engaged. Is this too early for coaching?

Not at all. Learning to listen well before the wedding is one of the best gifts you can give the marriage. We coach engaged couples together, and the same skills carry into the first years.

Hear Each Other, Really

Thirty minutes, free, both of you on the call. We'll tell you honestly whether we're the right fit.
