Hope Relentless
Communication Skills for Couples in Chandler, AZ
You'll be able to bring up the thing you've been avoiding and have it actually go somewhere. Not a technique for winning. A process for being heard, and for hearing back.
30 minutes, free, no obligation. Both of you on the call.
I used to fight to be right. Sarah-Gayle jokes that I should've been an attorney. I'd win the argument and lose the connection every single time, and I couldn't understand why winning felt so bad.
The shift wasn't a better comeback. It was realizing we were on the same team, and then learning a process that actually reflected that.
We call it the Communication Loop. Four steps, and they work in order like four pieces of a puzzle. You only see the picture when all four are in place.
The Communication Loop
Proactive Start
The initiator raises it with ownership instead of blame. When this happens, I feel this, and moving forward I'd appreciate this. The positive request at the end matters most, because it gives your spouse something they can actually hit.
Validating Response
The listener's job, and the goal is your partner feeling heard. Not you agreeing, and not you understanding yet. Listen, reflect back what you heard, then confirm it. Validation is not agreement.
Solution-Based Agreement
Once both of you feel heard, make a positive request and let the other accept or counter. Stay in the both/and instead of the either/or. Either/or makes opponents. Both/and makes a team.
Discuss the Details
The part almost everyone skips. Who does what, when, and how. We agreed on the trash early in our marriage and still fought about it for months, because we never discussed the details of what we'd agreed to.
It feels clunky the first several times. That's normal and it isn't a sign it won't work. It's a guide, not a law.
Where We Do This in Chandler
Most of the couples we teach this to are here in Chandler, and a fair number found us after a long stretch of conversations that kept going the same direction. We work with you at our Chandler office on Ray Road, or online if that fits your week better.

What This Looks Like With Us
You practice it here, on your real issue
We don't hand you a worksheet and wish you well. You run the Loop in the room, on something that actually matters to you, and we correct you in the moment.
Both of you learn it at the same time
One spouse using a communication tool on another spouse who doesn't know what's happening tends to feel like a trick. Both of you learn it, both of you practice, nobody is the patient.
You leave with the mindset, not just the steps
A tool without the right heart becomes ammunition. We teach personal responsibility alongside the process, because the Loop can be weaponized and we'd rather it wasn't.
Questions Couples Ask
What is the Communication Loop?
It is our four step process for having a hard conversation without it becoming hurtful: a Proactive Start, a Validating Response, a Solution-Based Agreement, and then Discussing the Details. The initiator does steps one and three, the listener does step two, and you both do step four. It works on almost any topic, from money and in-laws to date nights and parenting.
How long does it take to actually get good at this?
Most couples find it awkward for the first several attempts and then start reaching for it without thinking. What speeds it up is practicing it with someone watching, which is most of what we do in session. Expect it to feel clunky before it feels natural.
Can this work if only one of us is willing?
You can always own your own side, and that matters. But we do not offer individual sessions, because the Loop is something the two of you do together and both of you need to be learning it at the same time. If your spouse is hesitant, a two hour workshop is usually the easiest first yes.
