Sarah-Gayle needed it emptied before she cooked, plus the bathroom and bedroom cans I never touched. Same agreement, two different pictures. Clarifying the details dissolved the tension.

Clarify responsibilities
Who owns each part? Say it out loud, down to the small pieces.
Specify timing and logistics
When, where and how? Include the practicalities: childcare, location, how long, and whether this is one time or a new rhythm.
Confirm and revisit
"Just confirming, we're both good?" If new details come up later, that's not failure. It's a new Proactive Start.
Think who, what, when, where, why and how. Clarity, not control. A calm, organized, cooperative tone is what makes it work.
