Hope Relentless

Marriage Counselor Near Hayden Library at ASU in Tempe

Getting unstuck on the one issue you keep circling. Telling the facts apart from the story built around them. A way to say what you want and be heard. We coach you together at our Chandler office, about twenty-six minutes from Hayden Library, or online.

30 minutes, free, no obligation. Both of you on the call.

Short answer: our office is at 3075 W Ray Rd #200 in Chandler, at Loop 101 and Ray Road. From Hayden Library on the ASU Tempe campus it's about 26 minutes. We coach couples together, and it starts with a free 30-minute consultation.

A library is where you go to find out what is actually true. You pull the source, check the facts, and separate what is known from what is assumed. Couples tend to skip that step in an argument.

If you keep having the same disagreement about school, money, in-laws or where to live, there is usually a pile of opinion sitting on top of a few simple facts. The Bridge Exercise helps you dig down to the facts and work back up from there. It comes from Resilient Marriage, and we use it in our coaching.

The Bridge Exercise: One Issue at a Time

Use it on a single issue the two of you cannot get on the same page about. One bridge at a time.

1

Write down the data

Facts only, and both of you agree they are facts. "One of us wants public school and one of us wants private" is data. "You do not care about our kids" is not.

2

Answer alone first

Each of you completes the same lines on your own. I felt... The story I tell myself is... I reacted by...

3

Go underneath

Then keep going. My deep fear is... The backstory is... My deeper desire is...

4

Share, then ask

Read your answers to each other, one at a time, with a Validating Response in between. Finish with the last line: My request is...

Expect it to feel a little exposed. That is the point. It's a guide, not a law, and it works when each of you stays on your own answers.

What This Looks Like With Us

Built around your real week

Sessions happen at our Chandler office or online. We take one issue at a time, so the work fits inside a real week.

Both of you, every time

We don't offer individual sessions. Each of you owns your own side, and both of you grow at the same time. Nobody is the project.

Coached by someone who's been there

You'll work with Sarah-Gayle or me, matched on your consultation. Sarah-Gayle holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific, and works here as a coach, not a clinician. I'm an ordained minister. We've been married more than twenty years and have coached thousands of couples.

Coaching, not therapy. We don't diagnose, we don't treat mental health conditions, and we don't bill insurance. Both partners come to every session, and we don't offer individual work. If what you need is licensed clinical care, we'll tell you and help you find it.
